Overview
As Group Health & Safety Director, you will steer the Group H&S strategy and partner with the executive team to embed safety as a core value. You’ll influence senior leaders, shape governance, and drive continuous improvement across multiple sites. This high-profile role focuses on culture, risk management, and regulatory relationships to deliver safer operations and measurable performance gains. You’ll lead leadership development and ensure safety is integral to business decisions.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Group Health & Safety Strategy aligned with business goals
- Provide expert guidance to the Group Executive Board and Managing Directors
- Promote leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety
- Integrate health and safety into key business decisions with senior leaders
- Ensure governance, compliance, and assurance across the Group
- Build relationships with regulators and external partners (e.g., HSE)
- Identify, assess, and control key business risks
- Develop safety capability through leadership development, training, and competency frameworks
Key requirements
- Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health with Chartered IOSH status or equivalent
- Significant experience leading health and safety in large, multi-site manufacturing/FMCG environments
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, governance and risk management
- Experience developing and delivering business-wide H&S strategies
- Proven track record influencing senior leaders and delivering cultural change
- Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and sound judgement
