Overview
In this role you will lead multiple electro-mechanical medical device projects from concept through delivery, guiding cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers. You will balance hands-on mechanical design work with project leadership to drive life-saving technologies compliant with medical standards. You’ll collaborate with internal and external partners to manage updates and changes, ensuring alignment with ISO13485 and EN60601 requirements. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple electro-mechanical medical device projects end-to-end
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff
- Conduct hands-on mechanical design work on selected projects
- Ensure compliance with EN60601 and ISO13485 in design and development
- Coordinate communications with internal teams and external partners; manage project updates and changes
- Drive project delivery, risk management, and stakeholder alignment
- Support life-saving and life-improving device initiatives at scale
Key requirements
- Hands-on experience in developing electro-mechanical medical devices
- Mentoring or coaching experience for junior staff
- Strong understanding of EN60601 and ISO13485
- Relevant engineering degree (Mechanical)
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder communication
- Location-based in Cambridge (or willing to relocate)
- Ability to work on implantable or wearable medical device technologies
- Proven track record in delivering projects in a medical devices context
