Highway Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive civil infrastructure projects within our Transport Engineering team, focusing on feasibility, detailed design and scheme reports. You will manage projects, budgets, and costings, while ensuring compliance with specifications, health and safety, and environmental considerations. You’ll coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and team members, supporting junior engineers and contributing to sustainable infrastructure delivery. Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports
• Manage project scope, budgeting, and costings including bill of quantities
• Ensure designs comply with specifications, programme and CDM/health & safety requirements
• Assess environmental impacts of designs
• Manage client, stakeholder and third-party relationships
• Coordinate with design team members
• Support junior team members on projects

Key requirements

• Consultancy experience in design and management of Section 278/38 processes
• Sound knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual for Streets
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
• Detailed understanding of Health & Safety legislation
• Proficiency in Civils 3D
