Overview
In this role, you will draft Bills of Costs for high-value, complex civil litigation matters and support cost-related proceedings. You will work closely with fee earners to ensure precise cost documentation and keep abreast of costs law, CPR, and case developments. Responsibilities
- Produce detailed Bills of Costs for formal assessment across various matters (inter partes, legal aid, solicitor–client)
- Compile Schedules of Costs to support summary assessment applications
- Examine case files to extract information for cost drafting
- Collaborate with fee earners to confirm case details and ensure precision
- Draft and respond to Points of Dispute and Replies as required
- Monitor developments in costs law, CPR, and relevant case law
- Assist with preparation of matters for costs hearings and detailed assessments
Key requirements
- Proven experience drafting Bills of Costs for high-value, complex cases
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Familiarity with costs budgeting and costs management processes
- Proficiency in costs drafting software
