Overview

As Lead BMS Engineer, you will drive commissioning, programming and troubleshooting of Building Management Systems for diverse sites, guiding project teams and ensuring delivery to high standards. You’ll act as a senior technical specialist, resolving complex issues and sharing knowledge with peers. The role supports UK and international projects, leveraging Advanced BMS platforms to optimise building performance. You will shape commissioning strategies and documentation, delivering reliable, energy-efficient environments.

Responsibilities

  • Commission BMS across customer sites and optimise system performance
  • Program and modify BMS software, control strategies, and GUI
  • Diagnose and resolve complex BMS software/hardware/communication issues
  • Support functional testing, system validation and commissioning activities
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams throughout the lifecycle
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers with best practices
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers, Service Engineers and customers to ensure project success
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation as required
  • Identify technical risks and propose effective solutions
  • Ensure work complies with project requirements, standards and customer expectations

Key requirements

  • Proven experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation or HVAC Controls
  • Strong experience in commissioning, troubleshooting and supporting BMS installations
  • Experience programming BMS control strategies and GUI
  • Experience with Automated Logic (ALC) preferred; experience with other platforms (Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Johnson Controls) also accepted
  • Solid understanding of BMS hardware, controllers and field devices
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple projects
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within UK/Europe
