Senior Project Controls Engineer – Rail

Overview

As a Senior Project Controls Engineer, you will support a high-profile Rail & aviation project within our infrastructure practice. You’ll integrate with cost and planning engineers to establish robust baselines, monitor progress, and deliver performance analysis that informs client decisions. You’ll work in a collaborative project controls team, potentially as the primary client contact on day-to-day controls. This role offers exposure to large, complex international projects and the chance to influence project outcomes through disciplined cost and schedule control.

Responsibilities

• Develop work breakdown structures and performance baselines with cost and planning engineers
• Establish progress and cost monitoring methods
• Produce project control reports and performance analyses
• Provide recommendations to improve cost and schedule performance
• Manage baselines and change control activities
• Support Earned Value reporting and progress updates
• Utilise Primavera P6 and reporting databases for tracking
• Coordinate with financial/procurement systems (Oracle, SAP) and web-based tools

Key requirements

• Experience in project controls on major infrastructure projects (rail/airport favored)
• Strong understanding of Earned Value, progress updating, cost control, change control, baseline management, and reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Primavera P6
• Familiarity with Oracle and SAP and web-based project control tools
• Numerate and computer-literate; graduate in a relevant discipline with relevant experience
• Proactive, with well-developed communication and analytical skills
