Overview
As Section Engineer on the HS2 Main Works South, you will lead setting-out, quality control, and on-site coordination to keep the programme on track. You’ll develop short-cycle plans with site engineers and monitor productivity to inform progress reviews. You will ensure safe, compliant execution through ITPs, risk assessments, and method statements, and manage RFIs/FCDs to keep design fit for purpose. Responsibilities
- Coordinate site engineers to ensure setting-out and quality control are performed timely
- Develop 6-week programmes with site engineers and benchmark productivity; review progress weekly
- Prepare inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements; ensure timely documentation
- Communicate non-conformances to QA/QS; maintain records of resources for additional works
- Manage design by raising RFIs and FCDs; ensure design is reviewed and fit for construction
- Procurement of plant, materials and equipment through requisitions
Key requirements
- Civil Engineering degree or HNC in Civil Engineering with vocational training
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
- Computer competence: MS Word, Excel, document control system
- CSCS Card
- CAD, Primavera, Synchro
- Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator Trained
- Appointed Person for Lifting Operations Trained
- MEWPS for Managers Trained
