Software Engineer I

Overview

As a Backend-focused Software Engineer I, you will help build and maintain the systems behind Viator’s travel experiences platform. You’ll work closely with product managers and designers across a distributed team to design, implement, test, and deploy services that power , our apps, and related infrastructure. Expect a fast release cycle and opportunities to learn on the job, tackling scalable backend challenges in a remote-first environment. Responsibilities

• design, implement and test backend services
• collaborate with product managers and designers across the full software lifecycle
• contribute to deployment and production monitoring with a frequent release cadence
• engage in both backend and occasional frontend work as needed
• work on systems that support operators, third parties, and customer services
• learn and adapt to the tech stack (Java, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Kubernetes, AWS) over time

Key requirements

• experience with a statically typed, object-oriented language (Java, C#, or C++)
• bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• willingness to learn and operate across the stack
• strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
