Overview
As a Senior Process Engineer at Arup, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to design and optimize water treatment processes for potable water, wastewater and biosolids. You’ll work across project lifecycles from concept to detailed design, ensuring deliverables meet timelines and budget. You’ll apply digital tools and safety standards in highly regulated settings, shaping sustainable solutions for energy, water and resource projects. Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate work across disciplines
- Develop mass and energy balances, process data sheets and control philosophies
- Prepare feasibility studies, operational and capital cost analyses
- Create PID diagrams, plant layouts (GA) and energy/mass balances
- Contribute to HAZOP studies and ensure safety/regulatory compliance
- Develop fee proposals and feasibility reports
- Mentor engineers and support early-career staff
- Apply digital design tools and current software in process engineering
Key requirements
- Experience leading process engineering teams in the water sector
- Design experience across potable water, wastewater and biosolids technologies
- Knowledge of HazOp, DSEAR, COMAH, SIL and hazardous gas handling
- Ability to work across project lifecycle from concept to detailed design
- Proficiency with Biowin/GPS-X modelling software
- Experience in developing energy and mass balances, plant layouts and GA
- Feasibility studies and capital cost estimation
- Line management and mentoring responsibilities
