Overview

As Senior Automation Engineer in our EMA2 Mansfield Fulfillment Center, you will drive safety-focused automation initiatives for material handling systems. You’ll troubleshoot, design and document control solutions, and coordinate with internal and external resources while remaining on-call when needed. You will train RME Technicians in device troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, and manage projects with clear timelines and budgets. Your work supports cross-functional teams and EU network initiatives, shaping reliable, scalable automation that underpins operations. This role offers impact through hands-on engineering leadership in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define specifications and technical details for equipment performance
  • Diagnose PLC control level issues and implement changes
  • Follow change management and develop ad-hoc PLC ladder changes
  • Work with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLCs and I/O modules
  • Analyze and test existing and new engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with IT, FC Software, and Operations Engineering to create training materials
  • Conduct incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation
  • Undertake industrial engineering design for material handling modules in EU network
  • Produce technical docs: flow diagrams, layouts, installation details, schedules, budgets
  • Support commissioning of new automation elements
  • Participate in local/EU control projects and initiatives
  • Provide value engineering/analysis
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures and raise issues proactively
  • Use AutoCAD for electrical schematics and conveyor layouts
  • Adhere to QS 9000, ISO 9001 standards
  • Contribute to Control System SharePoint site development and documentation updates

Key requirements

  • Flexible schedule including weekends/nights/holidays
  • Experience with PLC-controlled automation
  • Knowledge of Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC processes and I/O modules
  • Incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation experience
  • Industrial engineering design experience on material handling modules
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
  • Understanding of industry standards QS 9000 and ISO 9001
  • Experience with AutoCAD to review electrical schematics and conveyor layouts
