Design Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will join the Shoring Design Team to create temporary works solutions and produce high-quality design documentation. You will liaise with customers and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, while driving best practices and innovative approaches in design. You will work with Revit and other design tools to produce reliable drawings, supporting the department’s output and standards. This is an opportunity to influence complex temporary works projects and contribute to Groundforce’s market leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender proposals, preliminary and construction stage designs in line with codes and legislation
• Follow Technical department procedures to ensure smooth design processes
• Collaborate with customers, Hire Desk, Sales and Operations to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Support with workload distribution across technical teams and guide junior members
• Develop and maintain consistent systems/processes for design work
• Produce design drawings using Autodesk Revit
• Manage own workload and deadlines for project work
• Communicate effectively in meetings and contribute proactively
• Lead on innovation and develop best practices for new ways of working

Key requirements

• Experience in a similar role within construction preferred
• Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng/BSc/MSc or equivalent) or HND with Eng Tech MICE and relevant experience
• Proficient with Autodesk AutoCAD and MS Office
• Knowledge of structural analysis software (CADS A3D MAX, Tekla Tedds, Robot, SAP2000)
• Good knowledge of Revit; desirable
• Familiarity with Groundforce product range or similar proprietary products desirable
• Member of ICE or working towards professional qualification desirable
