The Opportunity: Due to continued growth across the Companies Building Surveying service line, they are seeking an ambitious and motivated Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) to join their Belfast office.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of public and private sector clients across Northern Ireland and the wider island of Ireland. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering professional building surveying services and project work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

Working within a dynamic and growing team and reporting directly to Associate Directors and Directors, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including:

The ideal person will be client-focused, proactive and technically competent, with experience delivering both professional building surveying services and project-led commissions. You will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality advice and service

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting building surveys, inspections and defect diagnosis reports
  • Preparing schedules of condition, schedules of dilapidations and reinstatement cost assessments
  • Undertaking condition surveys and producing planned preventative maintenance reports
  • Delivering technical due diligence and acquisition surveys
  • Providing landlord and tenant advice
  • Preparing specifications of works and tender documentation
  • Administering refurbishment, alteration and maintenance projects
  • Contract administration and employer’s agent duties where required
  • Managing projects from inception through to completion
  • Monitoring project costs, programmes and quality standards
  • Providing advice on statutory compliance, including planning, building regulations and health and safety matters
  • Supporting clients with procurement and contractor selection
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the growth of the Building Surveying service line
  • Mentoring APC candidates and junior team members where appropriate

The Ideal Person:

  • Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline
  • Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or working towards Chartership
  • Previous experience working within a consultancy environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, construction methods and property legislation
  • Experience delivering a range of professional building surveying services
  • Experience managing refurbishment, alteration and maintenance projects
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC forms
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and manage a varied workload
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of client requirements
  • Experience working in a client-focused environment with a commitment to excellent service delivery
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to contribute to business growth and team development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with AutoCAD and project management software desirable
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland as required
  • Desirable to have skills, knowledge and experience to act as Principle Designer for CDM regulations
