Overview

In this role you will advance health data science and applied AI through independent research and by shaping education. You will contribute to King’s strengths in AI-enabled health research and Learning Health Systems, while building a research group and engaging with external partners. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to educating undergraduate and postgraduate students and leading curriculum development, including the MSc in Artificial Intelligence for Health. You will work within the Applied AI in Health group to tackle healthcare challenges and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct health data science and AI research with national and international impact
  • Contribute to AI-enabled health research and Learning Health Systems
  • Deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education, including curriculum development
  • Support student learning and assessment across programs
  • Develop and lead the MSc in Artificial Intelligence for Health as Programme Director
  • Build a research group and secure grant income
  • Collaborate across King’s Health Partners, NHS and external partners
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and broader university
  • Balance 40% effort towards education as part of Education & Research contract

Key requirements

  • PhD in Health Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Informatics or related field
  • Emerging independent national research profile in health data science or AI
  • Track record of high-quality research outputs
  • Experience with research funding activity (grants, fellowships)
  • Expertise in AI/machine learning applied to health data
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivering teaching and assessment in higher education
  • Experience supervising student research projects
  • Strong communication, organisational and collaborative skills in multidisciplinary settings
