Overview
As a Competent Person at LJMU, you will provide assurance and advisory support on the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and related fire safety standards. You will help ensure a coordinated, strategic, and collaborative approach to managing fire safety risk and fostering a positive safety culture. The role reports to the Director, Safety, Health and Environment and contributes to LJMU’s Strategy 2030 by supporting a safe, inclusive campus. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive compliance and high fire safety performance, balancing regulatory requirements with practical campus needs.

Responsibilities
- Provide assurance and advisory services on fire safety legislation and standards (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005)
- Support a coordinated, strategic approach to fire safety risk management
- Promote a positive safety culture and high fire safety performance across the university
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure compliance and practical implementation of fire safety policies
- Contribute to the LJMU Strategy 2030 through fire safety governance and continuous improvement
