Overview

As a Data Scientist at Voleon in London, you’ll turn complex data into actionable insights that support data-driven investment initiatives. You’ll curate, analyze, and visualize data, and communicate findings to researchers and leadership. You’ll build and monitor data pipelines, identify abnormal production behavior, and support machine learning-informed decision making. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data correctness and health monitoring in data stores and live feeds
  • Identify and communicate abnormal production behavior to stakeholders
  • Perform ad hoc analyses on research and production trading systems with leadership
  • Conduct statistical analyses on production trading and research data to inform projects
  • Design and implement pipelines that automate valuable analyses for ongoing monitoring

Key requirements

  • 1+ years of applied end-to-end industry experience with complex datasets (curation, querying, aggregation, EDA, visualization)
  • Experience using statistical methods to analyze data, identify patterns, root cause analysis, and insights
  • Ability to frame and answer questions mathematically
  • Ability to infer forward-looking directions from retrospective analyses
  • Fluency in managing, processing, and visualizing tabular data using SQL, Polars, and R
  • Basic software development skills and experience with bash, Linux/Unix, and Git
  • Ability to refine requirements from ambiguous requests; excellent communication and clear reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (statistics, biostatistics, data science, computer science, or related)
