Overview
In this Geotechnical Engineer role, you will deliver technically sound geotechnical assessments, reports and design outputs for diverse projects. You will build ground models, interpret geotechnical data, and inform engineering solutions across slopes, foundations and earthworks. You’ll manage your project tasks, budgets and programmes while collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams. You will mentor junior engineers and drive sustainable, digitally-enabled project delivery. This opportunity combines hands-on technical work with a chance to impact projects within WSP’s global geotechnics practice.

Responsibilities
- Deliver geotechnical assessments, reports and design outputs for varied projects
- Develop ground models and interpret geotechnical data to inform design parameters
- Perform geotechnical analysis for slopes, retaining structures, foundations and earthworks; assess geological hazards
- Manage own project tasks, ensuring quality, budget and schedule adherence
- Build relationships with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams as a technical contributor
- Plan and supervise ground investigations; manage fieldwork and site data interpretation
- Mentor junior engineers and engineering geologists; contribute to team development
- Drive project delivery innovation through sustainable design and 3D data solutions
Key requirements
- Strong understanding of ground risk, site investigation planning and geotechnical interpretation
- Knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, engineering geology and geotechnical design principles
- Experience delivering geotechnical assessments, reports and design calculations in consultancy, contractor or client environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication; producing high-quality technical deliverables and client engagement
- Experience supervising ground investigations and managing site activities safely
- Proactive problem solving, project delivery and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Progress towards Chartered status (or commitment to professional accreditation in near future)
