Overview
In this Lead Systems Engineer role, you drive the technical direction and execution of systems engineering for a major radar project. You translate stakeholder needs into a verifiable system solution delivered on time, within cost, and to quality standards. You collaborate with the SEM and cross-functional teams to apply MBSE processes and governance across the lifecycle. You will shape system architecture, ensure certification readiness, and lead engineering maturity efforts to reduce risk and improve performance. This is a hands-on leadership position within a global, multi-disciplinary program.

Responsibilities
- Provide overall technical leadership for systems engineering across the project scope
- Lead model-based systems engineering activities and improve tool knowledge within the team
- Act as MBSE point of contact for the international Joint Systems Team
- Support design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR) and maturity-based reviews with artefact production
- Maintain configuration control of requirements, models, and verification evidence using tools (CAMEO, DOORS, TCU)
- Define and monitor metrics for systems engineering maturity, requirements stability, and verification coverage
- Ensure outputs meet quality, schedule, and budget
- Support verification and validation activities, including integration and acceptance
- Coordinate with safety and security specialists for input to the main project
- Interface with Chief Systems Engineer and Architects to align on architecture and interfaces
- Coordinate with software, firmware, test equipment, hardware, and safety leads for coherent system definition
Key requirements
- Strong experience in systems engineering across the full lifecycle
- Knowledge of MBSE approaches and tools (SysML, Cameo, DOORS)
- Proven capability leading system definition, requirements, and verification
- Experience in complex, multi-disciplinary engineering environments
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues to varied stakeholders
- Experience of design reviews, trade studies, and technical governance
- Security Clearance per BPSS/NSV framework (SC or DV may apply)
