Assistant Director, Legal Strategy, Strategy and Business Design

Overview

As Assistant Director in Deloitte’s Strategy & Business Design, you help law firms and corporate legal teams navigate transformation through strategic growth, operating model design, and AI adoption. You will lead complex projects, coach junior staff, and strengthen client relationships to deliver high-impact, evidence-driven recommendations. The role sits at the intersection of strategy, risk, and practice development within a market-leading legal sector practice. You’ll work with cross-functional teams across Transformation, Technology, Change, and M&A to drive growth and eminence in the legal domain.

Responsibilities

• Deliver distinctive client service through analytic problem solving and strategic recommendations
• Plan and manage complex projects on time and within budget, addressing risk and quality
• Lead and coach junior resources within project delivery
• Build and manage client relationships to ensure seamless experience
• Develop and convert a pipeline of work through proposals and networking
• Contribute to practice development and sector eminence within Strategy & Business Design and the Legal sector

Key requirements

• Experience in strategy consulting or equivalent projects within the legal sector (law firms or in-house teams)
• Deep knowledge of the UK (and ideally European) legal market and priorities of law firms and in-house teams
• Ability to lead a team on complex strategic projects
• Ability to leverage personal networks to drive sales activities
• Ability to manage quality, risk, and practice development alongside delivery
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent
