Overview
As Commissioning Manager, you will lead commissioning activities across UK and EU projects to ensure systems meet design intent and client requirements. You will coordinate schedules, testing regimes, and stakeholder engagement to deliver facility-ready performance. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage risks, documentation, and handover, contributing to RED’s mission of low-energy, zero-carbon built environments. This role offers hands-on leadership in critical testing phases and a clear impact on project delivery.

Responsibilities
- Review project documentation for technical content and contract compliance
- Develop and manage commissioning programme and testing/commissioning progress reporting
- Maintain RAMS/test scripts; review/approve subcontractor RAMS and test scripts
- Coordinate L1-L3 commissioning documents; support Level 4/5 test scripts
- Set up BIM360 for commissioning process; perform installation and pre-commissioning checks
- Witness and manage all testing/commissioning activities; close out issues to deadlines
- Manage client IRL issues with FR (facility ready) targets; chair commissioning meetings
- Produce weekly/monthly progress reports and meeting minutes; liaise with stakeholders
- Interface with third parties (statutory authorities, utilities, FM) and ensure site coverage
- Collaborate with vendors and trade contractors for full system commissioning and interface testing
- Support O&M manuals development with Technical Author; assist in project delivery under RED processes
- Travel to project sites in UK and EU as required
Key requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND with relevant experience; equivalent considered
- Membership or progression towards IET/MCIBSE/IMechE
- Fully conversant with ASHRAE testing levels 1-5; knowledge of BSRIA and CIBSE guidelines
- Understanding of British and European standards
- Technical and commercial management experience
- Strong communication, organisation and planning skills
- Ability to work in a team and self-manage workload
- Relationship-building with internal/external stakeholders; strong report writing
- Attention to detail; problem solving; mentoring capability
- MS Office proficiency; ability to produce programmes in Microsoft Project
- Knowledge of documentation management platforms (BIM360)
