Overview

In this role you will underwrite and develop a global professional lines portfolio with a focus on Professional Indemnity. You will work within a specialist team to optimise risk and pricing, while building strong broker and client relationships. You will collaborate with claims, pricing and delegated underwriting teams to deliver viable products and maintain regulatory controls. This is a hands-on opportunity to advance technical underwriting skills, stakeholder management, and strategic execution in a London-based, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess renewal and new business risks and apply underwriting guidelines and pricing models to optimise the portfolio
  • Represent the company in client market presentations, 1-1 client meetings, broker meetings, industry events and conferences
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to maximise new business and renewals opportunities
  • Collaborate with the claims and pricing departments to provide a viable product for clients
  • Manage delegated authorities, undertake binder referrals, and coordinate with the Delegated Underwriting Authority team including timely data for reporting and underwriting control meetings
  • Support junior underwriters through referrals and technical knowledge guidance
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Underwriting Strategy
  • Liaise with Finance, Credit Control and Operations to prepare and review data for Lloyd’s and other regulatory returns

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in professional lines underwriting with a strong understanding of technical underwriting and risk assessment
  • Strong trading and negotiation skills and able to communicate rationale to both brokers and clients
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain broker and client relationships
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerBI)
