Overview

In this role you join a large, national construction disputes team handling high-value, complex matters for developers, contractors, consultants, and public bodies. You will work across adjudication, mediation and litigation, providing risk management and contract interpretation expertise while supporting junior lawyers. The role blends technical dispute work with business development to raise the team’s profile across the UK and internationally. You will influence client relationships and help shape the team’s growth, operating within a dynamic, ambitious firm culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deploy a broad range of disputes including adjudication, mediation and litigation under standard protocols
  • Provide contractual interpretation and risk management advice
  • Handle professional negligence and high-value defect disputes
  • Advise on Building Safety Act implications and PFI-related disputes
  • Work with JCT, NEC, FIDIC, ICE, PPC, GC Works and bespoke contracts
  • Collaborate with colleagues across UK offices and contribute to business development
  • Support and supervise junior lawyers; contribute to the development of client relationships
  • Shape and maintain relationships with major developers, contractors or public bodies

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with 8+ years of experience in contentious construction
  • Proven track record in adjudication, litigation and arbitration (domestic or international)
  • Experience handling complex, high-value defect disputes
  • Understanding of the Building Safety Act and its sector implications
  • Experience acting for major developers, contractors or public bodies
  • Strong knowledge of JCT, NEC and FIDIC contracts
  • Proactive business development and client engagement
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage files independently
