Overview

As a Senior Business Development Lead, you will shape partnerships and demand channels to grow utilisation and commercial value across bp pulse’s public charging network. You will manage end-to-end partnerships—from opportunity identification to launch and in-life management—working with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable growth. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution to unlock new customer access routes for drivers, fleets and mobility platforms. You will operate in a fast-moving environment with senior stakeholders, shaping how UK public charging scales and becomes commercially sustainable. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the business development and partner strategy for demand-generating channels
  • Drive utilisation, sessions, kWh demand, revenue and margin through partnerships and channel growth
  • Originate, assess, negotiate and deliver partnerships across direct B2B customers, OEMs, mobility platforms, fleet channels, demand aggregators, eMSPs, CPOs, roaming partners and bp channels
  • Build robust commercial cases and negotiate agreements balancing value, pricing, risk and strategic fit
  • Define, own and deliver partnership contracts from principles to in-life management
  • Develop partner propositions across on-the-go charging, destination charging and future hub locations
  • Own partner performance post-launch through planning, reviews and interventions
  • Utilise market insight and performance data to identify growth opportunities and inform decisions
  • Lead senior stakeholder engagement to align cross-functional teams and move opportunities to launch

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and complex B2B sales
  • Proven track record of negotiating and delivering complex agreements with senior decision-makers
  • Strong contract ownership experience with legal coordination and post-signature delivery
  • Strong commercial judgement balancing customer need, pricing, margin and risk
  • Evidence of value creation through revenue growth, customer acquisition or market expansion
  • Analytical and commercial modelling capability (Excel or equivalent)
  • Ability to use market insights and performance data to inform plans
  • Excellent PowerPoint and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence and lead in a matrix organisation
  • Customer-led, outcome-focused approach in a fast-moving environment
