Overview

As Principal Process Engineer in AECOM’s Nuclear team, you lead process design activities for UK-based projects, guiding multidisciplinary delivery from concept to completion. You’ll balance safety, quality and environmental care while mentoring the Process Team and collaborating with other disciplines. You influence bids, schedules and client engagement to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions that support decommissioning and energy projects. Responsibilities

  • Review key process engineering deliverables within a multidisciplinary context (PFDs, P&IDs, Basis of Design, Process Descriptions, Data Sheets & Schedules, Design Justification Reports)
  • Lead all aspects of process design and ensure alignment with project scope and client requirements
  • Ensure safety compliance through Safety in Design and contribute to project programme development
  • Manage process team workload and mentor engineers
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for integrated design
  • Communicate design development in meetings and reporting
  • Develop the Process Team through training and guidance
  • Support Safety Case development and engineering substantiation
  • Assist with bids, delivery schedules, and recruitment activities
  • Manage Contractors and build relationships with Delivery Partners
  • Stay updated on technical and commercial developments in the nuclear industry
  • Support decommissioning efforts to keep UK sites safe for the next generation
  • Promote social value and sustainable delivery in project work

Key requirements

  • Chartered Member with IChemE or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of experience as a Process Engineer in the nuclear industry
  • Experience leading delivery of process engineering work packages
  • Experience leading a team and mentoring engineers
  • Bid support and delivery scheduling experience
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards; NEC contract familiarity
  • UK security clearance eligibility and full driving license
