Overview

As an Associate Engineer at Sainsbury’s Tech, you contribute to designing, developing and supporting scalable digital solutions for millions of customers across Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat. You will gain hands-on experience with websites, mobile apps, APIs and cloud-native architectures in a collaborative, Agile environment. Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support scalable technology solutions and customer-facing products
• Build and enhance websites, mobile apps, APIs, microservices and event-driven systems
• Work with C# .NET, React and Next.js, MongoDB and SQL
• Learn and apply cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Support the engineering lifecycle from development through deployment, maintenance and decommissioning
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer and business needs
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and engineering best practices
• Continuously improve technical knowledge and explore emerging technologies

Key requirements

• Commercial experience or strong academic background in software engineering or computer science
• Experience programming in at least one modern language or framework such as C# .NET, React, Next.js, JavaScript
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns and development best practices
• Awareness of cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery approaches
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and collaborative ways of working
• Strong problem-solving skills with a curiosity for learning and experimenting with new technologies
• Passion for building solutions that deliver value to customers
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn from and support others
