Overview

Join a growing regional law firm in Exeter as an Employment Lawyer within the Litigation Department. You will own your caseload, advise clients, and help grow the employment offering through business development. The role blends independent work with collaboration across the Litigation team, and includes hybrid working after probation. You will help shape a developing practice area and contribute to strategic growth within a supportive, award-winning firm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of employment matters
  • Own client relationships and deliver high-quality advice
  • Grow the employment practice via proactive business development
  • Lead marketing initiatives and generate new sources of work
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Litigation Department
  • Work three days per week in Exeter (hybrid after probation) and travel for meetings/events as needed
  • Contribute to the firm’s strategic growth and development plans

Key requirements

  • 3-5 years’ PQE in employment law
  • Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer with full practising rights
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to manage matters independently
  • Proactive approach to business development and client generation
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to learn additional areas of litigation (for higher PQE)
  • Track record of client following or BD success (advantageous)
