About the role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in your community? As a Community Safety Officer, you will be supporting the South and Vale Community Safety Partnership (CSP) to help deliver initiatives that keep our communities safe. Using your problem-solving skills, initiative, and collaborative approach, you will work with partners to identify and address local challenges, develop effective solutions, and make a positive impact for residents.
Essential criteria for the role
- Educated to A level or equivalent standard
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience of project management and chairing meetings
- Good report writing and IT skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and email
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Proven team working skills, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Please note in this role you will be required to live within a reasonable commuting distance to the districts. (Although the councils are offering hybrid working arrangements, due to the nature of this role living within a reasonable commuting distance of the districts is an essential requirement). Including requirement for a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Key responsibilities for the role
- Lead on anti-social behaviour (ASB) case management.
- Lead on community safety projects that support the CSP’s priorities (e.g. rural crime, exploitation and serious violence, violence against women and girls).
- Co-ordinate CSP subgroups (including producing papers, minute taking, chairing meetings and monitoring delivery of actions).
- Investigate and respond to time critical safeguarding concerns through partnership working to ensure residents are kept safe.
- Provide advice to council teams and partner agencies on wider community safety matters, such as crime prevention, serious violence and modern slavery.
- Attend external partnership meetings to represent the community safety team to share best practice and maximise joint working.
