Overview

In this Mechanical Engineer role, you contribute to Stantec’s Energy & Resources team by delivering mechanical design across waste-to-energy, district heating, hydrogen, and biogas projects. You will support feasibility, optioning, and detailed design through installation, collaborating with clients and partners to shape project-wide solutions. The role involves producing technical specifications, S&IDs, 3D models, and GA drawings, with a strong emphasis on HSE and continuous improvement. You’ll be part of a culture that values collaboration, client focus, and sustainable impact across UK projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support optioneering from feasibility to detailed design and installation
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site surveys, and investigations
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to develop designs and project-wide solutions
  • Create specifications and scoping documents for construction packages and assess vendor designs
  • Produce technical outputs such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and P&ID diagrams
  • Prepare schedules and reports and communicate technical updates to clients and stakeholders

Key requirements

  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field, ideally in energy/power or process plant sectors
  • Knowledge of steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass, EfW plants; ability to discuss technical concepts with clients
  • Ability to produce specs, scoping documents, and assess vendor progress
  • Good communication skills for updates to clients and team
  • Ideally Chartered or progressing towards Chartership
