Portfolio Business Analyst

Overview

In this role you will drive business value by developing and assuring business cases aligned with strategic goals. You will analyse problems, elicit requirements, and map current and future processes while engaging stakeholders across the organisation. You will oversee governance and benefits realisation for a portfolio of digital products, supporting decision-making and reporting to senior leaders. This is a cross-functional, impact-focused position at Version 1, enabling delivery of large-scale change and technology programmes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain business cases using a structured model, ensuring alignment with strategy and managing benefits and risks.
• Analyse business problems, elicit requirements, create documentation and support solution design.
• Map As Is and To Be processes and run stakeholder workshops to inform decisions.
• Build relationships across business and delivery teams and track benefits against outcomes.
• Govern and oversee a portfolio of digital products, managing statuses, approvals, risks, dependencies and financial data.
• Prepare governance papers, portfolio reports and management information for senior stakeholders.

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years in Business Analysis with experience in large-scale change or technology programmes
• Proven ability to develop business cases, requirements documentation, and process maps
• Experience in portfolio, programme or project environments with governance, assurance and reporting
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with ability to manage priorities
• Experience maintaining management information for portfolio oversight and reporting
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across all levels
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
• Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented with delivery accountability
