Overview

In this Senior Consultant role, you will lead archaeology projects across the southern region, combining technical expertise with commercial insight. You will drive fieldwork planning, consent processes, and bespoke strategies for developments and infrastructure, ensuring high-quality delivery. Your work will involve stakeholder liaison, tender design, and managing subcontractors, all within a safety-conscious multidisciplinary environment. You will contribute to the growth of the Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Team by promoting services and identifying business opportunities. This role offers meaningful impact through heritage-led solutions on major projects in the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage archaeology fieldwork projects from planning to execution
  • Develop bespoke archaeological strategies for developments and infrastructure
  • Monitor and review work of fieldwork subcontractors, including RAMS
  • Prepare competitive tenders and define scope/methodology for fieldwork
  • Produce or contribute to desk-based assessments
  • Undertake stakeholder, curator, and client liaison
  • Promote team services and pursue business development opportunities

Key requirements

  • Experience in archaeological fieldwork project management (project, financial, and staff management)
  • Strong knowledge of Ireland archaeology/history and planning/herit environmental heritage legislation and guidance
  • Experience in heritage planning, masterplanning, heritage conservation, and related areas
  • Excellent writing, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Motivation and efficiency to meet deadlines and budgets in a consultancy environment
