Overview
In this role you will lead the Heathrow-wide logistics strategy for Vanderlande’s live airport portfolio, ensuring consistent planning from pre-construction to handover. You will partner with project teams, Heathrow stakeholders and delivery partners to optimise material flow, storage, waste and traffic management in a live airport environment. You will drive continuous improvement, align with CDM and Heathrow processes, and safeguard project delivery through proactive planning and governance. This is a strategic, autonomous role that shapes how logistics enable safe, efficient project execution at scale.

Responsibilities
- Establish and continuously improve the Heathrow logistics strategy for all projects
- Standardise logistics planning, material control, storage forecasting and DMZ management
- Act as senior logistics interface with Heathrow stakeholders and project teams
- Identify and embed future logistics requirements into project plans and space requests
- Provide direction to optimise shared Heathrow infrastructure and minimise disruption
- Own portfolio-level logistics performance and reporting on material availability, storage and blockers
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to align material movements with workfaces and schedules
- Define logistics responsibilities via RACI, subcontract scopes and coordination meetings
- Champion Heathrow-wide continuous improvement and capture lessons for standard processes
- Lead logistics safety, quality and compliance across all Heathrow projects
- Challenge unsafe or uncontrolled activities and ensure corrective actions are tracked
Key requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, airport, logistics or material management operations
- Experience leading logistics strategy across multiple projects or in a major airport environment
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and permit dependencies
- Ability to develop and govern project-specific logistics plans and waste management arrangements
- Experience coordinating CLC, Fulcrum, DMZ, airside and landside requirements
- Ability to interpret project programmes and supply chain data to forecast logistics
- Capable of leading logistics meetings and producing portfolio-level reports
- Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple groups
- IT literacy with Protrack, Fulcrum, JDE/Enterprise One, SharePoint or equivalent systems
- Proven safety leadership and promotion of Stay Safe culture
- SSSTS trained (prefer SMSTS), CPCS A61, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH is preferable
- NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Supervision, First Aid At Work, Temporary Works Co-ordinator Qualification
