Overview

In this role you build and manage key internal and external client relationships to drive revenue growth while guiding a team of staff. You’ll collaborate with management and product leaders to implement process improvements, strengthen controls, and ensure regulatory compliance. You support proactive risk management and contribute to a client-centric culture that upholds the M&T Bank brand. This position offers scope to influence service quality and cross-sell banking services through strategic relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex client relationships and pursue new business opportunities through client visits and referrals
  • Coach, mentor and develop Relationship Managers and staff
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
  • Lead process improvements to enhance service, efficiency, profitability, and compliance
  • Provide admin, operational and risk management support for the unit
  • Contribute to revenue-generation efforts and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver results
  • Exercise managerial authority over staffing, performance, promotions, and terminations
  • Maintain adherence to risk and regulatory standards; design and enhance internal controls
  • Foster an inclusive culture aligned with the M&T Bank brand
  • Coordinate with management to respond to audit findings and regulator requests
  • Engage with clients to sustain ownership and drive outcomes

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years’ related experience, or 6 years of combined higher education/work experience with at least 2 years’ related experience
  • Minimum 1 year of work leadership/supervisory experience
  • Strong customer service, verbal and written communication, problem resolution, resource management, and decision-making skills
