Overview
In this senior role, you will lead and grow AECOM’s Ground Engineering capability across multidisciplinary projects, strengthening client relationships and delivering high-quality geotechnical solutions. You’ll oversee data validation, design verification, and project delivery while mentoring a team and collaborating with transport, water, energy and buildings groups. You’ll shape technical strategy, drive innovation, and maintain an active industry presence to secure opportunities. This role offers influence over major UK and international projects and a pathway to leadership.

Responsibilities
- Oversee input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations
- Provide consultative advice to external partners across project life cycle
- Plan and manage geotechnical projects including schedules, coordination, objectives, programme and budget
- Provide leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team to meet time and quality targets
- Maintain industry presence and build relationships to create a steady pipeline of work
- Lead delivery of multi-disciplinary projects to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Ground Engineering, Tunnelling, Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams on project works and tenders
- Mentor and develop junior team members with guidance and support
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology with 2:1 (or equivalent) or higher
- MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous
- Chartered status
- Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices
- Understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design; open to innovations
- Ability to collaborate in project delivery, work winning and maintaining client satisfaction
- Knowledge of interpretation/parametric assessment for geotechnical design problems
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Effective networking to promote the AECOM brand as a consulting partner
