Overview

As a Senior KDB+ Developer in Talan’s front-office technology team, you will design and evolve pricing, trading, hedging and risk management solutions for Fixed Income. You will work closely with traders and quantitative specialists to deliver real-time analytics and rapid releases in a fast-paced environment. You’ll provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and ensure robust, governance-aligned software delivery. This role blends deep KDB+ expertise with business-facing communication to shape trading tech at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with traders and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy improvements to Fixed Income algo trading and risk platforms
  • Build and maintain high-performance real-time KDB+ processes, schemas and APIs
  • Develop solutions for trading surveillance, compliance monitoring and algorithm oversight
  • Create monitoring and visualisation dashboards using Altair Panopticon where appropriate
  • Perform ad hoc statistical analysis of algorithm performance, market data and client activity
  • Support maintenance, optimisation and evolution of KDB+ infrastructure and applications
  • Contribute to release management and governance controls
  • Provide technical guidance to junior developers and promote best practices
  • Deliver third-line support and expertise to production and operations teams

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience with KDB+/q in front-office or electronic trading
  • Strong software engineering principles (design, testing, delivery)
  • Experience with real-time data processing systems
  • Good UNIX/Linux knowledge
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication with traders and stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of Fixed Income products, electronic trading, market data or quantitative finance
