Speciality Doctor – Anaesthetics

Overview

In this role you provide anaesthetic care across elective and emergency settings within the Department of Anaesthetics at Broomfield Hospital. You will contribute to perioperative preparation, pain services, and obstetric anaesthesia, while collaborating with a structured team led by a Clinical Director. The post supports staff development within a culture of innovation and patient-centric care. The opportunity includes teaching links with ARU and involvement in national courses to advance expertise.

Responsibilities

• Deliver anaesthetic care for a range of procedures and emergencies
• Contribute to pain management services and pre-operative assessment
• Support obstetric anaesthesia including labour analgesia
• Engage in education and training activities within the department
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in service development

Key requirements

• MBBS or equivalent
• GMC registration
• FRCA or equivalent
• At least 4 years postgraduate ST experience
• Experience and competence in obstetric anaesthesia including labour epidurals
• Ability to assess critically ill patients in Resus and on the wards
• Desirable: Ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia
