TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER


Technical Project Manager | IT & Software Delivery | Data | Kubernetes |



  • £770 per day via Umbrella

  • High Wycombe or Farnborough – 2–3 days onsite per week

  • Initial contract until March 2027

  • Active MOD SC required | Estimated start 6–7 weeks from offer


ABOUT THE CLIENT


Our client is delivering complex technology programmes within a secure UK Defence environment, working across software, data, infrastructure and modern cloud-native technologies. Due to continued programme activity, they are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead delivery across technical teams, suppliers and senior stakeholders.


THE TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER ROLE:


As a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering complex IT, software and/or data projects within a multi-supplier technical environment.


You will manage project schedules, risks, issues, dependencies and finances while coordinating technical teams, suppliers and senior stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.


Key responsibilities will include:



  • Managing delivery of complex IT, software and data projects

  • Ownership of project schedules, milestones, dependencies and delivery plans

  • Managing risks, issues and financial controls

  • Leading and coordinating technical teams and suppliers

  • Managing relationships with senior technical and business stakeholders

  • Working across a multi-supplier delivery environment

  • Applying knowledge of SDLC, Agile delivery and software release management

  • Coordinating delivery across data platforms, data integration and enterprise software

  • Supporting delivery involving Kubernetes and containerised applications

  • Working with cloud-native technologies and modern technology platforms

  • Ensuring effective communication, reporting and governance throughout delivery


TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL SKILLS:



  • Proven experience delivering complex IT, software and/or data projects

  • Strong project management experience across: Scheduling and delivery planning, Risk and issue management, Dependency management and Financial management

  • Experience managing technical teams and suppliers

  • Strong senior stakeholder management experience

  • Good understanding of SDLC

  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments

  • Understanding of software release management

  • Knowledge of data platforms, data integration and enterprise software delivery

  • Experience operating within a fast-paced, multi-supplier environment

  • Understanding of Kubernetes and containerised applications

  • Knowledge of cloud-native technology delivery


DESIRABLE:



  • MOD, Defence Digital or RAF/Air domain experience

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, including VMware

  • Experience within secure, regulated or mission-critical technology environments
