Overview

In this Finance Operations GL Lead Controller role, you ensure accurate, complete and auditable general ledger data and drive the end-to-end R2R process. You lead GL teams across global operations, shaping standards and governance while maintaining data integrity and balance sheet substantiation. You champion automation, AI and transformation to enable scalable, reliable financial reporting. You work closely with Group Finance and senior stakeholders, delivering insightful financial narratives that connect numbers to business drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the ultimate controller of the General Ledger across the Group, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Own Balance Sheet Substantiation for Group Finance and Finance Operations, ensuring substantiated and audit-ready outputs
  • Lead the global Record to Report operating model, setting standards and governance for timely close
  • Provide senior financial insight and storytelling linked to business drivers and risks
  • Oversee governance of revenue, cost, intercompany, transfer pricing, cost control and fixed assets
  • Lead GL Leads and the wider R2R team, driving transformation, automation, and cross-functional delivery

Key requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Significant experience leading Record to Report in a complex, global organisation with Controller or senior GL leadership ownership
  • Deep expertise in general ledger, revenue and cost accounting, and financial integrity
  • Proven ownership of Balance Sheet Substantiation, financial narration, senior stakeholder insight and challenge
  • Ability to lead multi-layered teams and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience as final escalation point for R2R financial and control risk, using Oracle or similar ERP
