Job Description:


  • Take overall commercial and performance responsibility for multiple subcontract packages across infrastructure and civils projects, from procurement and contract award through to final account

  • Maintain accurate cost reports and provide consolidated commercial reporting for the project

  • Establish commercial strategies for subcontract packages aligned with project budgets and delivery strategies

  • Identify commercial gaps, risks and emerging cost pressures, and implement mitigation measures

  • Monitor subcontractor spend against approved work package budgets and report exceptions

  • Provide senior management with current and forecast commercial positions

  • Lead and support subcontract negotiations to achieve best value and appropriate risk allocation

  • Define scopes, programmes, deliverables, payment mechanisms and commercial assumptions before contract award

  • Review and commercially evaluate subcontractor tenders and quotations

  • Manage variations, compensation events, claims and additional works, including entitlement, valuation, evidence and settlement

  • Maintain audit trails and recover additional costs from clients where appropriate

  • Administer subcontract agreements and monitor contractual notices, payment provisions, programme requirements and change mechanisms

  • Manage subcontractor non-performance, delays, defects, disruption and other commercial issues

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and conduct regular commercial reviews

  • Develop recovery and mitigation strategies for underperforming subcontract packages

  • Lead preparation, negotiation and settlement of subcontractor final accounts

  • Reconcile final accounts against the project cost plan and approved changes


Requirements



  • Degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline

  • Significant commercial management experience within infrastructure, civil engineering or major construction projects

  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontractors and work packages simultaneously

  • Strong experience in subcontract procurement, commercial negotiation, contract administration and managing subcontractor applications, payments, variations, claims and final accounts

  • Appreciation of cultural differences in overseas territories

  • Ability to communicate well with customers and advisors overseas

  • Willingness and ability to undertake occasional overseas travel as required by the business
