Overview

In this role you design, build, and maintain statistical and machine learning models to support decision-making and solve complex problems. You’ll collect and clean data from multiple sources, implement data management for model upkeep, and deploy models for credit risk, fraud detection, and marketing optimization. You will monitor models in real time, mentor colleagues, and evaluate new AI technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of innovation. This position centers on strengthening financial crime controls and optimizing transaction monitoring strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire data from internal databases, external datasets, and real-time feeds
  • Clean and pre-process data to ensure quality for model development
  • Design data management strategies for model maintenance and future development
  • Develop and deploy statistical and ML models for credit risk, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and marketing optimization
  • Monitor real-time model performance and address biases or issues
  • Lead training and knowledge-sharing to uplift ML capability across the organization
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to stay at the AI frontier
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to risk and governance efforts

Key requirements

  • Experience implementing, optimizing, and tuning TM systems or similar financial crime controls
  • Experience in regulated environments with governance and risk management exposure
  • Experience using analytical tools for data exploration, analysis, and visualization
  • Strong coding experience in SQL, Scala, Spark, Python (or equivalents)
  • Understanding of financial crime, AML, and TM/detection processes and trends
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement across technical and non-technical audiences
