Product Owner – Change Governance (Director)

Overview

As Director for the OnePath product at Barclays, you translate strategy into a clear, prioritized roadmap and ensure delivery by the product team. You act as the primary link between Product and Engineering, Risk, and Business teams, deputising for the Lead Product Owner as needed. You drive product value through market insight, customer feedback, and governance, shaping features and backlog to align with business goals. You will lead cross-functional execution, governing change and risk while delivering incremental business value. This role offers impact at scale within a governance-heavy, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritise the product function’s operating plan and roadmap
• Run regular cadence with team and stakeholders to align priorities and remove duplication
• Coordinate with Engineering Lead and Release Train Engineer on sequencing, dependencies, and capacity
• Lead executive reporting on product delivery and management
• Monitor delivery against portfolio objectives and escalate risks early
• Represent the product function in Change, Risk and Architecture governance forums
• Resolve cross-team prioritisation conflicts before escalation to Lead Product Owner
• Deputise for the Lead Product Owner in day-to-day decisions and stakeholder engagement
• Design and evolve a repeatable operating model as the function matures

Key requirements

• Product management expertise, ideally at scale across multiple teams
• Experience in Agile/SAFe delivery models
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to resolve conflicting priorities without constant escalation
• Experience partnering with Engineering leads and Release Train Engineers
