Senior Fire Engineers

Overview

Senior Fire Engineer at Stantec leads performance-based fire strategies for complex buildings, guiding projects from concept to handover. You will collaborate with Architecture, MEP and other teams to integrate fire safety across multidisciplinary schemes. You’ll oversee CFD and evacuation modelling, ensure regulatory compliance, and support bid leadership. This role offers shaping best practice within a growing Fire Engineering capability and opportunities to mentor junior engineers. You’ll work across healthcare, education, commercial, residential and life sciences sectors, making a measurable safety and design impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across diverse portfolios
• Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
• Ensure designs meet regulations, standards and Stantec quality processes (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, NFPA, EN)
• Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders; lead client meetings and workshops
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
• Mentor junior Fire Engineers and support pathway to IFE/CEng
• Support growth of Fire Engineering service and bid activities across the UK

Key requirements

• Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficiency in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
• Consultancy experience on multidisciplinary projects
• Proactive, collaborative mindset aligned to company values
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards with IFE or equivalent
