Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will lead the electrical design for nuclear infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, compliant solutions across existing and new-build facilities. You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver upgrade, refurbishment and asset optimisation programmes that meet UK standards. The role offers exposure to high-profile, regulation-heavy projects with real infrastructure impact. You’ll mentor junior engineers and shape engineering best practices in a collaborative, employee-owned environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support electrical design packages for nuclear projects
  • Develop and review electrical diagrams and protection schemes
  • Prepare cable schedules, wiring diagrams and equipment layouts
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, and protection coordination studies
  • Prepare technical specifications, scope documents and BOMs
  • Undertake site surveys and assess existing infrastructure
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to junior engineers
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations and client standards

Key requirements

  • Chartered Engineer status (preferred) or working towards chartership
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of UK standards, regulations and best practices
  • Experience in regulated industries and power distribution design
