Solution Architect

Overview

As a Solution Architect at BAE Systems, you will define and shape the architecture for IM&T projects across a wide range of programmes, ensuring alignment with business needs and governance. You’ll lead cross-functional collaboration and act as a Project Technical Authority to secure design quality and compliance. The role supports large-scale, multi-year initiatives within a thriving, growth-focused enterprise IT team. You’ll work in a hybrid setup to deliver secure, innovative solutions that enable the company’s mission to protect and progress.

Responsibilities

• Define solution architecture and design within cost, time, and framework constraints
• Capture and document as-is and to-be architectures for assigned projects
• Ensure functional and technical designs are fit for purpose
• Provide Project Technical Authority leadership for IM&T solutions and third-party teams
• Liaise with internal and external IM&T suppliers and product teams
• Support project managers with planning, estimates, and schedules

Key requirements

• Experience delivering IM&T solutions with architecture deliverables
• Design, development, testing and release of Information Systems
• Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
• Understanding of IM&T software development lifecycle and governance processes (e.g., Agile)
• Previous experience as a Technical Authority or technical leadership
