Overview
As a senior customer-facing Solution Architect, you will shape and win strategic opportunities for UK Central Government. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop differentiated solution strategies and lead solution development through qualification, proposal, and bid stages. You’ll translate complex government challenges into practical architectures across data, cloud, security, AI/ML and digital modernization. This role blends deep architectural credibility with government procurement know-how to deliver credible, cost-aware solutions that align with client missions.

Responsibilities
- Engage customers early to understand mission needs and transformation goals
- Develop compelling, deliverable solution strategies for major public sector pursuits
- Lead solution development from qualification through proposal, orals and handover to delivery
- Create clear solution narratives, value propositions and differentiators
- Facilitate discovery workshops, architecture reviews and sessions with customers and internal teams
- Translate complex problems into practical, differentiated solutions across multiple digital capabilities
- Assess solution feasibility, delivery risk, commercial viability and strategic fit during qualification
- Collaborate with delivery and programme teams to ensure proposals are credible and achievable
- Represent the solution in customer meetings, bid reviews and orals
- Contribute reusable solution patterns and thought leadership for future pursuits
- Support handover from growth into delivery highlighting commitments, risks and design intent
Key requirements
- Proven experience with UK Central Government departments or agencies
- Understanding of how UK public sector buys, governs and delivers digital transformation
- Experience supporting competitive procurements, frameworks, bids, proposals or capture activities
- Cloud or architecture certifications (Azure, AWS) are useful but not a substitute
- Ability to build customer trust, strengthen capture strategy and improve major bids
- Evidence of personal contribution to winning or shaping strategic opportunities
- Ability to balance customer outcomes, technical quality, delivery risk and commercial competitiveness
- Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder management and executive engagement
- Current and valid UK Security Check (SC) clearance
- Extensive experience delivering for UK Government contracts
