Project Assurance and Operations Manager

Overview

In this role you provide independent oversight across a client project portfolio and ensure smooth day-to-day consulting operations. You will govern projects, forecast finances, and maintain auditable documentation, while driving high-quality reporting and risk visibility. You’ll tighten financial controls and support processes like resourcing, invoicing, and timesheets. The position combines governance, finance, and operational execution to enable reliable delivery at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio-wide project assurance process with auditable documentation (RAID, status reports, governance records)
• Review and challenge project reporting and financials (forecasts, revenue recognition, margins) to flag gaps before leadership or client reviews
• Track, escalate, and communicate key risks, issues, and portfolio trends to leadership
• Maintain and improve the project assurance framework, checklists, cadence, and escalation routes
• Oversee core financial operations (SoW creation, PO tracking, invoicing, accounts receivable) and produce monthly leadership reports on financials and utilisation
• Manage resource tracking and timesheet approvals to ensure accurate project allocations and forecasts
• Coordinate business operations (marketing materials, travel, assets, events)
• Support people operations (onboarding/offboarding processes, holiday and sickness tracking)

Key requirements

• Experience in project governance, PMO, project assurance, or project coordination
• Solid understanding of project financials (forecasting, revenue, margins) and financial processes (invoicing, reporting, AR)
• Proficient with data and reporting; strong Excel skills and ability to present clearly (PowerPoint, Canva, AI tools)
• Strong stakeholder management and communication; comfortable challenging and escalating with senior leaders
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with ability to improve processes and support workforce planning
• Open to leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity in reporting and operations
