Banking and Finance Lawyer, Belfast

Overview

As a Banking and Finance Lawyer at Abacus, you will draft, negotiate and review a range of financial services documents for debt finance, M&A, refinancing and asset finance. You’ll work closely with top-tier banking and finance lawyers across a broad footprint, shaping complex lending arrangements and negotiation playbooks. You will champion technology-enabled workflows to speed contract preparation, negotiation and execution. This role offers a pathway to drive innovation in legal services while solving practical business challenges in a collaborative, high-caliber environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review loan agreements, security documents, ancillary documents and CP documentation.
• Support negotiation and execution of complex lending arrangements and related transactions.
• Create customized contract negotiation playbooks for clients and teams.
• Advance technology-enabled workflows to improve efficiency in contract preparation, negotiation and execution.

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor in Northern Ireland or England & Wales (dual qualification preferred).
• Significant post-qualification experience across banking and finance workstreams.
• Experience negotiating loan agreements and advising on lending and security-related transactional matters.
• Solid understanding of financial services regulations and their impact on banks, insurers, funds, asset managers and other financial institutions.
