Overview
As Corporate Counsel for Real Estate, you will support Amazon’s European logistics expansion, focusing on Germany, by negotiating and structuring real estate transactions and development projects. You will work closely with Real Estate, Operations and cross-functional teams to drive site selection, permitting, construction, and asset management. You will handle complex legal issues with practical, risk-aware solutions, enabling scalable growth of Amazon’s logistics network. The role combines high-impact advisory with actionable execution in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will contribute to shaping Amazon’s physical operations and legal strategy across Europe.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft complex real estate and construction agreements (purchase agreements, ground leases, build-to-suit leases, development contracts).
- Structure real estate transactions and construction projects to meet operational needs while managing legal risk.
- Advise on land use, zoning and permitting strategies for facility development.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Tax, and Construction to drive projects from site selection to facility launch.
- Develop creative solutions to legal issues arising in acquisition and development.
- Support post-acquisition matters including contracts and asset management issues.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on specialised matters and oversee legal strategy and costs.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks in transactions and development projects.
- Stay current on real estate laws and trends affecting the logistics network.
- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability across the portfolio.
Key requirements
- Experience in Real Estate Law
- License to practice law in Europe, US or other common law jurisdiction
- Significant experience with at least 6+ years of post-qualification legal work
- Experience in real estate transactions and asset management in Germany
- Preferred: mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience
