Overview

In this role, you develop and deliver grid connection services for UK and Ireland renewable energy projects. You will perform power system studies, grid code compliance work, and due diligence to support siting, feasibility, and commissioning. You’ll collaborate across disciplines, refine cost estimates, and help shape budgets and schedules. This position offers impact across development and construction phases while working with major energy clients to enable reliable connections to the grid.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical design through power system studies
  • Conduct detailed power system/grid code compliance analyses using PowerFactory, PSCAD and PSS/E
  • Participate in interdisciplinary project deliverables reviews
  • Perform grid connection due diligence including prospecting, optioning, risk and capacity assessments
  • Contribute to PS&E package through discipline-specific work
  • Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates
  • Lead or contribute to quality control reviews of designs and drawings
  • Prepare sections of technical specifications
  • Provide input to engineering budget and schedule
  • Liaise with OEMs and clients to drive technical outcomes
  • Support bids and proposals

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in an Engineering Design Consultancy or OEM/Utility Network Planning
  • Understanding of transmission and distribution planning and customer connection processes
  • Strong knowledge of UK Grid Code, G99, G5/5, P28; Ireland Grid Code knowledge beneficial
  • Proficiency in PSCAD, PowerFactory and Python scripting
  • Desirable: PSSE and ETAP experience
  • Understanding of control and protection principles for HV substations, transmission lines, generators, transformers, reactive equipment
  • Basic understanding of power electronics and control systems for renewables
