Overview
As a Project Controls Engineer you support Defence project delivery within a cross-functional team, shaping scope, baselines, and performance insights. You enable robust change control, risk management, and data-informed decisions to drive delivery success. You will collaborate with stakeholders, suppliers, and Finance to align resources and finances with project goals. Responsibilities
- Lead on specific workstreams within a cross-discipline Project Controls team
- Define scope through exclusions, assumptions, interfaces and dependencies and decompose into a Work Breakdown Structure
- Support the establishment and maintenance of a Performance Measurement Baseline and change control
- Collaborate with suppliers to integrate and analyse project performance data per contractual requirements
- Support scope, cost, risk and schedule integration and alignment
- Analyze performance data including Earned Value Management to inform delivery decisions
- Liaise with Finance to generate prospective financial positions (Cash Estimate to Complete, Estimate At Complete)
- Support risk management through identification, quantification, and oversight of project risk
- Assist Project Managers in deploying resources per resource-loaded schedules
- Assure quality and integrity of outputs
- Communicate performance with the Integrated Project Team and influence stakeholders
- Promote learning from experience and drive process improvements
Key requirements
- Experience delivering projects with Project Controls across one or more lifecycle stages
- Experience in Planning and Scheduling, Cost Estimation, Cost Control, Risk Management or Performance Reporting and related software/tools
- Basic understanding of how Integrated Project Controls disciplines operate
- Proactive, curious, can-do attitude in uncertain environments
- Strong communication and influencing abilities
- Desire to build a professional community beyond delivery
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant technical or management field or suitable equivalent
- Membership or working toward membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI)
