Overview

In this role you will lead enterprise and portfolio architecture for Wells Fargo’s Commercial Banking business from London, guiding modernization, AI adoption, and risk-aware strategy. You will partner with senior technology and business leaders to translate strategy into actionable roadmaps and governance. The position combines senior leadership with deep hands-on architecture expertise to drive cross-domain initiatives across Commercial Banking, International Banking, and enterprise platforms. You’ll foster architecture standards, scalable patterns, and measurable business value while mentoring senior architects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering managers and leads to deliver on enterprise priorities
  • Develop actionable roadmaps aligned to strategic goals
  • Drive continuous improvement of software engineering practices
  • Ensure security, resilience, availability, and scalability across solutions
  • Oversee risk management and resource planning
  • Hire and develop engineering talent and mentor teams
  • Lead cross-domain projects and collaborate with regulators and external forums
  • Allocate people and financial resources for technology leadership
  • Foster talent development and culture aligned with business strategy
  • Interface with CIOs, product, risk, and senior leaders to maintain alignment

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in engineering, architecture, or technology leadership
  • Experience leading major technology initiatives and cross-functional programs
  • Proven success leading senior technology professionals and talent processes
  • Experience defining and leading architecture strategies for large-scale enterprise systems
  • Strong analytical thinking, strategic perspective, and commercial judgement
  • Extensive experience influencing CIO-level executives and business stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of architecture governance, risk, cybersecurity, resiliency, and regulatory expectations
  • Exceptional executive communication and ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Maturity, credibility, and ability to operate through ambiguity and change
  • Experience designing or governing enterprise AI solutions (Generative AI, ML platforms, RAG)
