Overview

In this role you will lead fire protection design and calculations for diverse projects, serving as a key point of contact for clients and project teams. You’ll deliver design packages, surveys, and reports while supporting day-to-day project management within AECOM’s Buildings & Places practice. The position offers progression for an established consultant with strong technical depth in a respected fire safety consultancy. You’ll work across RIBA stages on high-profile schemes and contribute to a safer built environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FP design on selected projects and support the lead FP engineer on complex schemes
  • Prepare design packages for various RIBA stages (drawings, specs, reports, hydraulic calculations)
  • Create Fire Suppression System solutions for multiple applications at all design stages
  • Perform sprinkler water supply and gaseous suppression calculations
  • Support remote project-delivery teams
  • Conduct technical reviews and assist in solving design issues
  • Perform field investigations or inspections
  • Coordinate with project teams, clients, authorities, contractors and stakeholders
  • Support project managers on projects of varying scale and technical assurance

Key requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Relevant engineering degree or professional qualification
  • Experience in consultancy or related industries
  • Knowledge of British & International standards and Building Regulations
  • Experience with Fire Suppression Systems (Sprinklers, Water Mist, Gaseous Suppression, Risers, Hydrants, Hose Reels, Hypoxic Systems)
  • Software proficiency (Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, hydraulic tools)
